What Is an Agriculture Gold Loan and How Does It Differ From a Regular Gold Loan?
An agriculture gold loan is a crop loan secured against gold jewellery, specifically for farmers. The key difference is the interest rate subsidy under KCC and government subvention schemes. Regular gold loans charge 7–15% p.a., while agriculture gold loans under KCC qualify for 7% with a 3% subvention = 4% effective rate.
Tenure is crop-cycle based (4–12 months), and repayment is almost always bullet — farmers pay monthly interest and repay the principal after the crop is sold.
How Do You Get an Agriculture Gold Loan From a Bank?
Requirements: land ownership documents (7/12 extract, patta), farmer ID (Kisan Credit Card), and gold jewellery for pledging. Banks include SBI, Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, and cooperative banks.
The loan must be classified as a "crop loan" in the bank's system to qualify for subvention. Simply pledging gold as a farmer does not automatically qualify — ensure the loan is routed through the KCC channel.
